Handcrafted Indian Art Studio

Where Golden Heritage of India Breathes.

Pichwai painting, Lippan mirror-work and sculpted clay mold — Swarnkala brings India's traditional art forms into contemporary homes, made by hand, one piece at a time.

Our Story

Swarnkala, Crafted Between Tradition and Imagination

Swarnkala was born from the belief that India's artistic heritage is not only meant to be preserved, but continually reimagined.

Each artwork begins as a dialogue between tradition and contemporary expression. Inspired by Pichwai, Warli, Madhubani, Gond, Lippan mirror work, Indian folk traditions, nature, and ancient motifs, these influences are reinterpreted through a distinctive mixed-media approach that incorporates acrylics, texture, sculpted reliefs, resin, and gold leaf.

Some pieces celebrate the quiet elegance of lotus ponds. Others explore forgotten architectural details, sacred symbols, landscapes, wildlife, or abstract emotions rooted in India’s cultural heritage, natural landscapes, and feminine spirit.

Created entirely by hand in small batches, every artwork is a singular expression—crafted not as a reproduction, but as an original work of art.

The name SWARNKALA combines two Sanskrit words—Swarna, meaning gold, and Kala, meaning art. Together, they reflect a commitment to honouring heritage while creating something distinctly contemporary.

Apurvaa Pandey

"I believe every tradition still has stories waiting to be told."

Apurvaa founded Swarnkala to explore the meeting point between India's artistic heritage and contemporary mixed-media expression.

Her practice draws inspiration from India's diverse artistic traditions, folk art, architecture, nature, and cultural symbolism. Rooted in traditional art forms such as Pichwai, Warli, Madhubani, Gond, and Lippan, she combines time-honoured influences with contemporary techniques including texture, resin, acrylics, sculpted reliefs, and gold leaf to create artworks that feel both timeless and modern.

Rather than following a single artistic style, each collection explores a unique dialogue between material, technique, and story. A Lippan-inspired piece may incorporate ancient architectural motifs. A Warli composition may be transformed through layers of texture and resin. A Pichwai painting may shimmer with hand-applied gold leaf. Every artwork is approached as its own creative journey.

Each piece is handmade, signed, and created with patience—allowing heritage to evolve into something new without losing its soul.
